
Over the weekend factory Serpent driver Andrea Cristiani added the 2008 Italian 1:8 Open Class Championship title to his CV. The current Vice World Champion won the UISP Federation organised championship on the Fiorano track at the controls of his Max powered Serpent 960. Cristiani dominated the event taking the TQ position before going on to win the final from fellow Serpent/Max Power drivers Nicola Smaldone and Emanuele Comoglio.

2008 was the first time for Futaba OS Cup to cater for both 1:8 and 1:10 classes, similar to DTM Cup which has been held since 2005. Many new faces were seen participating in the Indonesian race some travelling from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Weather was good all weekend and traction was up.

Last weekend young Serpent driver Maxim Claes took his 720 to a podium place in the T2 class of the Belgian 1:10 200mm Championships.

Over the weekend Team Serpent USA driver DJ Apolaro was in action in the ROAR Region 4 Championships where the Sedan star was also at the controls of a 960 '08.

Richard Hicklin kept Team Serpent UK's impressive run of national championship race victories going over the weekend when he TQ'd and won Round 3 of the BRCA run series at Cotswold.

Serpent Driver Development programme member Kyle Branson broke into the big time over the weekend when he took his first ever British National Championship win. Racing in the third round of the 1:10 200mm championship at Mendip the 14-year-old ace took his Serpent 720 to a 2-lap winning margin.

Former Team Serpent Ireland driver Dean Lacey made a very welcomed return to racing over the weekend with the young ace steering his Mega MF powered Serpent 960 to victory in Round 2 of the Irish National Championships despite a 10 month absence from the sport.

This year the European Championships will be held in Crete, Greece. The warm up for the big race was last weekend, 9-11 May, and I arrived at the track on Friday at 2 o´clock. All the top drivers where there and we started our practice testing a lot of different things like tires, wheels and diff & shock oils.

Last weekend Michael Salven overcame a strong challenge from Serpent team-mate Steven Cuypers to score his second win in a row in the German Regional “West” Series.
