CYPRUS GETS 2006 SERPENT SERIES UNDERWAY (01/03/2006)

They may be the newest country to join the Serpent Series but the honours of hosting the first race of the 2006 season has gone to Cyprus.

At the weekend the first round of the newly introduced 1:10th 'Serpent Series Cyprus' was held at the Modelsport race track and it was Spyros Charalambous who collected maximium points.

He was joined on the podium by Nikos Christoforou and the very fast Nicolas Zachariades who set a new track record during the event.  Top Junior honours went to nine year old Andreas Michaelides.

The newest country to join the Series, Cyprus can also boast being the longest.  Starting last weekend, it will run over 11 rounds and doesn't come to a close until November 19.

Organised by Modelsport Modelshops, the next round of the Cyprus Series takes place on March 19.
