The Wombwell Race Track
Current Series leader John Carr was on his local circuit and keen to increase his lead.
The track was wet from overnight rain, 57 drivers all stood in silence for 1 minute as a mark of respect for the sad loss of Tom Martin, one of the founder members of the BRCA.
As Heat 1 was about to start the rain started to fall. At the end of round one only half of the 57 drivers had recorded race times. Local driver and series leader John Carr was TQ. Rounds 2 and 3 got even wetter. In the last round TQ was taken by the current leader of the National series Richard Hicklin.
The track was still very wet and half of the drivers were on their way home to dry out. In the lower finals it was a case of survival. The drivers with the best wet weather preparation winning the races only three carswere still running at the end of lower finals. The main A final saw 10 drivers head out for a very good race (9 Serpents and 1 Mugan). After 10 minutes Tim Wood lead the field with John Carr second and Kyle Branson in third place. The track conditions started to improve, the rain was much lighter now.
Tim Wood was the worthy winner with John Carr second and Mark Green third.
