For the next round of our national championship we went across the border to the beautiful track of M.C.C Kochelscheuer in luxemburg , where the Euro 1/8 has been in 2004. We’re always looking forward to race on this fast and technical track.
On fridaymorning the weather was bad , with rain and wind setting the scène. Because the track dries up very fast , we were able to make a few laps between 2 rainperiods.
With 15 people together on the track and I still had to run in my Mega engine, that didn’t work very well.At the end of the day I had been nearly 10 minutes on the track. We hoped for better weather on Saturday to do some setup changes because the car didn’t feal to great.
The next day the weather was even worse, rain all day and no practise at all.
The first round of qualification was on Saturday so we scipped that and started cleaning and rebuilding the car .
In the first run on Sunday the track was dry but traction was still a bit low.I had to do some adjustments on car and engine so we hoped for a dry last run. It stayed dry and I had a clean run in 18l 5.08 whitch gave me pole position only 1 sec. ahead of Jochen Lenaerts. Steve Lambrechts and Michel Tomagra(both 710/mega) completed the top 4.
Jerome Renaux,Bert Aerts,Maarten Kempeneers,Luc de Weerd, Stephane Roufosse and Jan de Pooter completed the T1 final.
At the start of the final my engine flamed out twice , he was set a bit to ritch.I dropped back to last position , 2 laps down on Maarten Kempeneers who was on first spot.I had to push hard for 30 min and see where I would end up. Meanwhile Jochen Lenaerts,Michel Tomagra were going fast.also Steve Lambrechts , who set the fastest laptime, but had some engine faillures after refueling.
I was able to climb up to 3th place but there wasn’t enough time to get to Jochen or Maarten, who became 1st and 2nd.
Final Ranking
1. Maarten Kempeneers Kyosho 104l.
2. Jochen lenaerts Mugen 103l.
3. Nick Cuypers Serpent/Mega 103l.
4. Michel Tomagra Serpent/Mega 102l.

After all not a bad result but it is a pity for everyone we couldn’t have a dry weekend.
The car went very good after few practise .Also the new Gammalube fuel I’ve been testing gives me good feelings for the future and the upcomming races.
I would like to thank team Serpent for their support and Steven and peter for their help in the pitlane.
Also special thanks to the people of MCC Kochelscheuer for the organisation.
Hope to see you all and more of you in 2 weeks for the 3th round in bierset, at the track of MRCL
