Andrea Christiani Serpent 960/Max on pole in EC-B (27/05/2006)

Great show from Andrea Christiani with his Serpent 960/Max on pole in the 2006 EC-B in France.

With 18 laps in 5.12 he was quite a bit faster than 2nd man Guillot with 5.16.

All 4 direct finalist made 18 laps.

Jordy Blok (S960/Mega ZX DSII) in 5th position was in a 2nd place looking at his laptimes in the 2nd qualifier, but a small error in the last part cost him deerly. He will need to do very well in the semi on sunday.

Also Ben Jamini from Holland with S960/ZX DSII was performing well and set an 8th qualifying position. It is a good test for him, as he wll race full scale in the USA Formula Atlantic series from june onwards.

The Top 4

Serpent racers Michael Salven and Mark Green at the track for general support.

Same for Roem for RB and Fantini for Max (and Mega MF MasMo) engines.

Good to see these top-guys around to share their experience with the up and coming drivers.

Serpent prepared a gift-pack for all Serpent racers including the new cap, new rear lower bearingblocks, Serpent decals and the EC-B set-up sheet, prepared by Serpent ace-racer Steven Cuypers, who raced at this track during the may Serpent Nitro Tour de France 2006.

140 racers attending from all over Europe, the majority from France.

Weather-conditions are not easy. Sun and rain change all the time, but sunday looks ok.

The track is very fast, so doing 5 minutes is quite a challenge. Some engines like the Mega ZX21 DSII do not suffer this problem, but others need to change to an 8 or 8.5 venturi, different headers or just a 6 second splash and dash refuel. Many options are open.

A high 16 sec lap was the absolute best from Andrea. Low 17 sec laps for the other fast guys. During the last French Nationals here earlier in the year a 17.1 sec lap was fatests.

The finals are underway with all the main finals to be run on the sunday.

The main final over 45 minutes will present us the 2006 EB-B Champion.

In 2005 it was Steven Cuypers from Belgium who took the title in Bamberg Germany with Serpent / Mega. He will go for the EC-A title in Sweden this year.

Also the Polish Serpent distributor made the trip to France in good compnay too ;)
