In the third round of the Austrian 1/10th National Championships, held over the weekend at Aspern near Vienna, Team driver Gerhard Kandlhart once again steered his 710 to victory.  The winner of the previous round at Nußdorfring,  a very wet encounter, the former European 235mm Champion was again the pace setter at Aspern where competitors were greeted by 30°C plus temperatures.

Starting the 30 minute final from pole, Kandlhart completed 91 laps to win by a margin of 7 seconds from Hubert Hönigl.  Also in the final for Team Serpent was Daniel Tomaschko who had qualified P2 and looked set to give Serpent a 1-2 result until he experienced engine problems.  He eventually finished fifth.

Also competing in the 1/8th class Kandlhart looked good to repeat his round two victory qualifying his 960 in P2.  Unfortunately 7 minutes into the final he encountered a problems and was forced to retire.

The next round of the Austrian Championship moves to Mistelbach on July 29/30.
