ALL ATTENTION TURNS TO SWEDEN FOR EC (25/07/2006)

This week all attention will be firmly focused on Sweden as they play host to the 2006 European 1:8 IC Circuit Championships.   Racing at the Staffanstorp Circuit, which is located in the south of the country just 15km from Malmo, the EFRA event has attracted 112 entries from 15 countries.





Heading the Serpent challenge at the week long event is multiple former European Champion Michael Salven of Germany.  The designer of the Serpent 960, Michael was fastest with his Mega powered example on the opening day of testing for the championship.




Also representing the Serpent factory team in Sweden is another former European Champion Massimo Fantini from Italy,  fellow Ilatian Fabio Domanin, Mark Green from the UK and former Euro B Champion Steven Cuypers from Belgium.





Other Serpent drivers expected to perform well in the event include newly crowned European B Champion Andrea Cristiani from Italy,  Serpent Driver Development star Oscar Cabezas from Spain, Franck Bestel from France, Jernej Vuga from Slovenia, Markus Geisendorf of Switzerland and top local star Mikael Fransson.




Racing gets underway on Thursday with the first of the heats followed by the first of the finals scheduled for Saturday morning.
