Team Serpent Ireland enjoyed another very competitive outing in the latest round of the Irish National Championship over the weekend with three of their drivers securing podium placings.
1:8 driver Clive Connolly, winner of the previous round, was once again the man to beat at the St. Annes Park circuit. Fastest in qualifying, Connolly TQ'd his 960 for the 30 minute A final. Capitalising on his pole position, Connolly lead from start to finish and extend his lead in the chamopionship.
Also on the podium for Team Serpent, finishing 3rd, was Round 1 winner Darragh Fox. Dean Lacey and Seán Doyle made it 4 Serpents in the top five finishing 4th and 5th repectively.
In the 1:10 class Team Serpent driver Eoin Doran was debuting the 720 along with Serpent newcomer Noel McCarthy. Fastest in the first two qualifying runs, Doran was knocked off pole in the 3rd & final heat. Starting on the front row for A final, he was in the hunt for victory until a collision with a back marker ended his challenge and he had to settle for second.
Despite the incident, Doran declared himself very pleased with the performance of the new car. Noel McCarthy took fourth place with his 720.
Round 6 of the Irish National Championships takes place on September 24th.
