The second day of the Worlds have started again with beautiful weather (luckily less wind than yesterday) and lots of racing. We will keep you updated with short news sections the whole day.
Please also check the homepage of the event for complete lap times/results after each run of controlled practice: http://www.200mmifmarworlds.com/Default.aspx?tabid=329
Josh Cyrul is definitely having a hard time today. There has been a protest on his Orion enginges yesterday and he is waiting for a final decision of the race direction today. The protest is about the slots in the bottom of the sleeve. The technical direction has to decide if these are additional holes or not.
Serpent introduced a new fuel tank for the 720 in Brisbane. Improvements are made regarding the filter which has a better fuel passage. Next to this the material of the fuel tank is thicker which prevents material expansion. Also the seal of the fuel tank has been improved by now using a rubber o-ring instead of a foam pad. This fuel tank will be available shortly!
Off course, the most important question is who is doing well today. After three runs of controlled practice we can conclude that the Serpent drivers are doing a great job. Michael Salven and Jilles Groskamp are driving constant, fast laps with times around 17.7 sec. They made some modifications on the set-up of their cars which really improved their lap times, a good job though!
Next to our Serpent guys Chris Tosolini is showing a great performance with his Kyosho car. From the beginnning on he was one of the pacesetters with his fastest lap time being 17.6 in the third run. Mike Swauger and Takaaki Shimo also showed their potential in the last run with driving a 17.5 sec respectively 17.6 sec lap. So times are getting faster and racing is getting more exciting with each run. We will keep you informed!
This afternoon we have seen two more runs of controlled practice. The lap times have been improved with Chris Tosolini (17.2 sec) and Hideo Kitazawa (17.3 sec) scoring the fastest lap times in the afternoon. Unfortunately not all racers were using their personal transponders yet so we were unable to get precise lap times from all of the fast guys. Anyway we have also seen Adrien Bertin and Fabio Domanin showing a good performance in the last run.
By now also Surikarn Chaidajsuriya has arrived at the track so there is another name added on the list of potential winners of this World Championship.
All team Serpent racers have been searching the right set-up today. The main problem was to find the right balance between enough steering and traction roll. Many different solutions have been tried including different diff oils, one ways and solid axles. The best solution has to be found tomorrow as also tires are making a big difference in handling of the car on this track.
