Prepare to perform

So finally the last day has arrived and all racers are ready to show their best performance today. You can see the live results on the following link (live results will be updated every 10 sec.): http://www.200mmifmarworlds.com/Default.aspx?tabid=329

I will keep you informed on a regular basis today, so stay tuned...

4th Finals Updates

The last day of the IFMAR 1:10 scale Worlds have been openend with very exciting racing but bad luck in the 'Snake Pits'.

Mark Green convinced in his 4th Final Even with driving a very clean and smooth race and winning 1 lap in front of the second position. The crowd got really excited by the battle around position 3 in the last 5 minutes of the race. It was Paolo Morganti holding the third position when the two cars behind him got faster every lap. We saw some very good fights and high class battles around the position until Paolo and Davide Gallesi touched each other and Paolo went off the track. Really a shame as Paolo has shown a very fair race.

...we thought to have one more car in the Semi Finals .... but some minutes ago rumours arrived the 'Snake Pits' of Mark Green being disqualified (for a too big stinger pipe). The rumours seem to be true and Mark definitely got disqualified in his 4th Final Even. Again a shame as Mark really drove a fantastic race.

4th Final Odd has also been finished by now and I can tell you that it has been very exciting and stressing for the racers as it started raining in the last 5 minutes of the race.

Unfortunately we did not receive the official results yet so I will wait publishing names until I got the official list of people who were able to make it to the next final. Keep you posted!

Rain....

Guess what...it started raining during lunch time. So right at the moment the marshalls are drying the track so that both Semi Finals and the Big Final can be run today.

Update 17 o' clock

I am lost! It is a complete chaos over here....

Actionally the track dried up earlier this afternoon so that Semi Final Even could be started with a little delay. After 14 minutes the Semi Final had to be interrupted because it started to rain. The race direction decided to wait until the track dries up again and then continue with the second half of the Semi Final. The results of both runs had to be added up to get the final result of Semi Final Even.

In theorie this sounds very easy.. but with all things that happened during the race having an overview was nearly impossible.

In the first half we saw a great performing Scotty Gray who was able to hold a convincing first position in the first 10 minutes of the Final. Unluckily his pitmen made a mistake by refueling him too late. This caused problems with the engine (broken glowplug) so Scotty lost some positions before the first half of the Semi Final had been stopped. Jilles Groskamp had bad luck while some of his competitors spinned right in front of him and he crashed into their cars (unbelievable but this happened three times!). He fighted himself back into the 4th position when it started to rain and the race has been interrupted. Masao Tanaka has managed to get a smooth first half of the Semi Final which ensured him the second position!

After a short brake, the second half of Semi Final Even had been started. Masao Tanaka again had a good run (3rd position) which ensured him a place in the Final after the results of both runs have been added up. Well done Masao!

Jilles and Scotty had less luck. A broken second gear made an early end to the race of Jilles. Scotty struggled with engine problems as his engine had been slightly damaged because of late refueling in the first half of the Semi Final. So after adding up the results of both half of the Semi Final Jilles and Scotty both could not make it to the Final.

No racing continued today

Well, you might question yourself if the schedule will be continued as planned today.

I have got news for you: No! It just started raining again so the race direction decided to delay Semi Final Odd and the Final until tomorrow morning. For sure all racers will be praying for better weather tonight...
