Team Great Britain has revealed the line for its team that will travel to Lisbon in Portugal to defend the Serpent Nations Cup title won last year in Valencia after a titanic battle with host nations Spain.
Heading the strong line up will be Richard Hicklin, Jason Frost, Chris Edwards who were all members of the 2005 winning team. The will be joined by newly crowned BRCA 1:8 Junior Champion Ian Campbell who will be keen to play his part in the team title defence. While the Team GB line-up has to make them favourites to win they will however be missing one of the biggest assets this year in form of Team Manager John Russell.
Great Britain will face tough opposition in particular from host nation Portugal. Last year Portugal recovered from a difficult opening Leg of the event to secure a well deserve final podium placing. Local knowledge combined with some promising young talent should ensure they are in the hunt from the start this year.
Also possing a serious treath to Team GB title defence hopes will be Team Poland who last year showed great speed but were unfortunate to miss out on a podium placing.
One of the youngest line-ups in 2005, Team Ireland returns high in confidence with Sean Doyle, Dean Lacey and Daragh Fox being joined by experienced international racer Clive Connolly.
Other Nations that will be represented at the 2006 Serpent Nations Cup include include Team Netherlands, which will be led by Danny Lewis, Team Spain, Team France and Team Benelux.
The Serpent Nations Cup is a team event with each national team made up of four 1:8 drivers. Run over two Legs, the team with the highest combined points tally from the two race days will take home the Serpent Nations Cup.
This year the event will take place at the Monsanto Circuit in Lisbon, Portugal from October 13-15.
