'Serpent Driver Development' team member Oscar Cabezas took victory in the EFRA Spanish GP at Elche over the weekend and with it the Spanish 1:8 National Championship title.
Qualifying on the front row of the grid, the 19-year-old got away from the line perfectly getting the jump on pole sitter Stefano Solaroli. Once in front Cabezas took control of the race and at the 15 minute stage had a commanding 1 lap advantage over second.
Maintaining his lead Cabezas took his Mega MF powered Serpent 960 to a superb victory and his second EFRA Spanish GP win.
With the GP also counting as the final round of the Spanish National Championship the win also secured maximum points for the championship and with it the 2006 Spanish 1:8 National Championship crown for the SDD driver.
Oscar will have little time to celebrate this superb double result as the highly talented Spaniard heads Team Spain at the Serpent Nations Cup in Lisbon, Portugal, this weekend. It was at the 2005 Serpent Nations Cup that the promising young racer came to the attention of Serpent's Michael Salven resulting in the Dutch competition r/c car manufacturer signing him to its 'Serpent Driver Development' program.
