The final round of the Luxembourg Championship took place recently at the Howald track where Rischard Dirk claimed the title in the best way possible with race victory at the controls of his Serpent 960. Dirk sent us the following summary of the race that crowned him the 2008 1:8 Champion -
Saturday -
Just coming back from holidays I arrived on the track at 16.00. I used the time to run-in an engine, simply dialing in clutch's and to find a good set-up for Sunday.
Sunday -
Heavy rain was announced for the whole day. As all the heats were running in the wet, I decided to run only 1 lap in the third heat which means that I have to start from the 10th position in the final. In the afternoon it stopped raining, so that the main could be run under dry conditions. I knew that I the chances for the 30 minutes final were good as our Speedline tires had minimal tire wear and the fuel consumption of my RB Xenon Alpha engine is still pretty good.
Making a very good start I made a marvellous run and always fight for the lead. The handling of my Serpent 960 08' and the power of my RB Xenon Alpha engines allowed me to win the main by 2 seconds of Mugen racer Patrick Beltrallo with Alain Levy driving also a Serpent finishing on the podium.
This victory allowed me to win again the national title and to take home another win for Serpent Motorsport.
Final result after 30 minutes
1. Rischard Dirk - Serpent 960 08'
2. Beltrallo Patrick - Mugen
3. Levy Alain - Serpent 960 08'
I would like to thank my sponsors Serpent Motorsport, RB Products, Kit Flammang
and my dad for the great support.
Kind regards,
Dirk Rischard
