Interview with Andrea Cristiani, one of Serpents best team-drivers and vice-world champion.
Q: How was the winter for you, too long and no racing or ?
A: Winter is always too long…and too cold for racing. Anyway I had some races despite bad weather conditions…I can’t stay without racing.
Q: are you studying ( if yes what ) or already working ( if yes what) ?
A: I’m studying at the university. I’m attending the first year of mechanic engineering…
Q: What was your best race last year and which car/engine/body/tyres did you use ?
A: My best race last year was the European championship in Valencia where I finished 3rd. My materials were very competitive and for this I have to thank Serpent for the excellent 960’08, Max Power for the powerful and reliable XL9 TQ engine, XceedRC for Zytec body and Enneti for the tyres.
Q: What are your racing plans for 2009 ?
A: Maybe I will participate to the EFRA GP in Paris then I will take part to the pre worlds in Lostallo, to the world championship in Lostallo as well, I will race the Italian championship (made of 3 races) and finally I will participate to the EFRA GP in Montecarlo. These are the main races but I will surely have some other competitions during 2009 season.
Q: Have you already seen details of the Serpent 966 ?
A: Yes, I have seen some images. The new rear bearing blocks are very nice!
Q: In which way are you involved in the development, do you cooperate with Michael ?
A: Long time ago my dad and I received an e-mail from Michael who asked how to improve 960 performance…
Q: What do you expect from the changes ?
A: 960 is already an excellent car so big improvements are not so easy, but the 966 construction looks of high quality and this is in the right direction.
Q: Do you practise many times during the season and which track mainly ?
A: During winter I had not much time due to the school; anyway I had some practice in Fiorano, the track where I usually go for tests. During spring I usually have practice every 2 weeks.
Q: Will you test a few time in Lostallo before the WC or do you know the track well enough already ?
A: Surely I will go for tests because I raced in Lostallo only for the European championship and I think that practice is the best way to improve your feeling with the track.
Q: Who is your mechanic ?
A: As usual my dad, Marcello.
Q: Which car/engine/tyre/body do you plan to use for this year ?
A: Surely Serpent/Max/Enneti/Zytec. Last year these materials proved to be among the best available so why to change?
Q: What are your goals for the WC this year ?
A: Obviously (like several other drivers) to win! ;-D
