Ireland, 733 double victory (03/09/2009)

Serpent's 733 claimed a debut win on its first Irish outing over the weekend when Keith Dempsey took his Max powered example to victory at the inaugural Irish Grand Prix hosted by the ORCA Club at their St.Annes track in Dublin.

Making a welcomed come back to nitro racing for the event, Dempsey only received his 733 kit three days prior to the event but straight away was very pleased with its performance. In qualifying it was visiting Serpent factory driver and reigning British Champion Kyle Branson who took his Sirio powered Serpent to TQ honours after he set the fastest run in the opening and only dry round of heats.

In the 30-minute final, run on a wet track, Branson took the early lead but just after the 10-minute mark the youngster suffered a radio glitch on the main straight which sent his Serpent crashing into the pit wall and into instant retirement. This allowed Demspey to take control of proceedings over another of the British visitors Alex Thurston. In the end the Team Serpent Ireland driver took the win, adding to his earlier victory in the Electric Touring Car class, by two laps from the Kyosho's of Thurston and Chris Lawlor. Running Xceed tyres on his 733, Dempsey also recorded the fastest lap of the final.

Dempsey, who will see out the final three rounds of the 2009 RCCAOI 1:10 Onroad National Championships in preparation for a full on assault on the 2010 title, wishes to thank the ORCA club for putting on a great event and also his sponsors Serpent, Xceed and Merlin for supporting his return to nitro racing.
