The opening round of the 2011 Irish 1:10 Onroad National Championship took place on Sunday at the St.Annes track just outside Dublin where long time Serpent racer Colm Gaffney secured his first ever National win.  Driving his Mega powered 733, Gaffney qualified fourth for the 30-minute encounter but quickly worked his way to the front where he battled it out for much of the race with the Xray of Jacek Zadrozny. Unfortunately for Zadrozny he suffered a broken exhaust spring dropping him to third as the Serpent driver, who was using an Xceed A5 bodyshell and Xceed tyres, went on to take victory by a comfortable four lap margin over Darren Long.  A six round National Championship, the second round is scheduled for May 15th.
