Reigning British Champion Kyle Branson ( Serpent 733) , who had been busy attending the 1/8th Worlds in Miami, sent us this report from the first round of the BRCA 1/10th 200mm nationals was held at the end of March in the Cotswoulds district. The weather forecast looked promising for the weekend, the sun was shining Saturday morning which looked set to be a really nice day. The traction levels were not too bad to start off with, but with plenty of cars going around the track it soon increased. During practice on Saturday most of the top drivers was separated by a few tenths setting up the scene for some close racing for Sunday.

The forecast was looking fine for Sunday, and it did not let us down. In the first round of qualifying I took TQ ahead of Johnathan Dobney us both on 19 laps and in third was Mark Green. In round two I improved my time by around 2 seconds ahead of Mark in second with Johnathan only 4 tenths of a second behind Mark. In round three I didn’t improve due to running out of fuel, Mark improved 2 seconds on his time keeping second position with Adam Catchpole in third, now just under a second behind Mark. For the final round I improved on my time by half a second but with Mark keeping his best time from round three to stay second just ahead of Adam in third.
Qualifying results
1. Kyle Branson – 19 / 309.93  car S733
2. Mark Green – 19 / 312.38  car S733
3. Adam Catchpole – 19 / 313.15  car S733
4. Johanathon Dobney – 19 / 313.96
5. Neal King – 18 / 300.16
6. Simon Wood – 18 / 302.04
7. John Zottl – 18 / 305.28
8. Joe Kerry – 18 / 306.19
9. Chris Steele – 18 / 306.87
10.Andrew Hastings – 18 / 308.61

In the final I got off to a good start leading from Johnathan in second and Simon Wood in third, Johnathan Dobney had problems later on in the final which dropped him down the order. With around 70 laps gone I was still leading, Mark was in second but unfortunately broke a rear shock. This allowed Adam Catchpole to move up to second and Simon Wood to third. After 30 minutes I finished 1st ahead of Adam in second and Simon in third.
