Serpent driver Masao Tanaka was the faster driver in qualifying, as he tq-ed most rounds.
In the end Masao was the driver doing a super 20 lap run, and taking TQ with 966.
Also Serpents Yuya Sahashi with Serpent 966 was in strong contention all week, but fuel consumption and engine set-up prevented a higher ranking.
Tadahiko Sahashi was very fast too, and took 11th time in the end. Matsuda, Serpent 733 revelation at the 2011 WC in USA, is racing 1.8 scale too and managed a 17th spot. Engine issues played a key role, as fuel consumption was key.
In the final Masao was charging very hard and was doing really well and was looking good for the win.
During the final Masao decided to change tyre-stops form 2 back to 1, which in the end cost him the win. Tyres and fuel consumption were key in this race.
Tyre wear was very high, and the too small tyres made the car hard to drive and more nervous. On larger tyres the 966 was the fastest car on the track.
Every race you learn again ! In the end a 4th place for Masao, just missing out on the podium finish. Masao Tanaka who won the Japan Nats in 2010 with Serpent looked good to do it again.
Anyway this one is in the books. Next WC 1/8 onroad will be in Japan, so lots of time to test.
Team Serpent Japan.
