Peo Report: Swedish Championships 2011 (08/08/2011)

6-7:th of August the racing club in Vaxjo hosted the 2011 nationals.
A great racing track with a good number of drivers joining.
After practice on Thursday Friday it was qualyfying time on Saturday, racing was done in great sunshine with very close racing and good tracktion.

1:10 Scale qualify:
TQ, Markus Hellquist, Serpent 733, Novarossi
2:nd, Mikael Fransson, Serpent 733, Orcan
3:rd, Per-Ola Hard, Serpent 733, OS Speed
4:th, Tomas Andersson, Serpent 733, Novarossi

1:8 Scale qualify
TQ, Mikael Fransson, Serpent 966, Novarossi
2nd, Niklas Johansson, Mugen, Novarossi?
3:rd, Patrick Sahlin, Mugen, Picco
4:th Marcus Lindner, Serpent 966, Novarossi

Sunday brought a change in the weather and the level of tracktion – it rained.
Drivers had enough time to prepare for the new conditions with tires, engines etc.
After some lower finals it was time for the real thing fighting about the championship.
Despite the wet conditions the racing got exciting and pretty close racing took place!
In the end the final standings was like this.

1st, Per-Ola Hard, Serpent 733
2:nd, Mikael Fransson, Serpent 733
3:rd, Tomas Andersson, Serpent 733
4:th, Staffan Karlsson, Serpent 733
5:th Markus Hellquist, Serpent 733

I am not sure what engines was used as most guys changed to waterproctected rainstylestuff, Including myself racing one of my older engines to get a smooth feeling.

5:th, P-H Persson, (not sure of his car)

Despite the wet Sunday it was a great event hosted by the club in Vaxjo, included a nice opening ceremony with national anthumn and showdriving by Viktor Hallrup, normally a prodriver in the STCC series racing a 1:1 Chevrolet Cruze with Rickard Rydell.
Saturday night saw a barbeque event with over 60 people, so a nice racing weekend.

Personally it is also a great feeling to win the Swedish Championships!!
