Interview
Loran is joining team Serpent , so we asked her below questions to get some more details
Q: What are the key reasons you decided to join Team Serpent ?
A: My strategy over the past couple of years has been about having fun and learning as much as I can. I want to learn more, race smarter, and constantly improve. I’m continuously embracing opportunities that will align with that strategy. My family and I will be able to be more involved in the hobby through this collaboration with the great Serpent team. I plan on working closely with Paolo Morganti and learning as much as I can from him. He’s awesome! I am very thankful for this opportunity! J
Q: Which cars / classes will you be racing with Serpent ?
A: I will focus mostly on 1/10 on road classes – nitro and EP. But I will also race 1/8, GT, and some offroad!
Q: Which major races are you planning to attend for 2016 ?
A: My schedule for 2016 is busy! I will be racing at the IFMAR 1/10 Nitro Sedan Worlds in Italy, the nitro and electric US ROAR On-Road nationals in Florida, the Middle of the World cup in Ecuador, and the US World Nitro Cup in Kissimmee, along with many others!
Q: What is your favourite class to race in and why ?
A: My favorite class to race is 1/10 nitro sedan. I have raced this class for 14 years (since I was 10 years old). I am very comfortable with the driving style it requires and I just love the way that 1/10 cars look on the track!
Q: What is your favourite racetrack for onroad ?
A: My favorite race track in the US is the Florida Winternats track in Fort Myers, FL. It is small and difficult, but a lot of fun. My entire family races there and we always have a great time. My favorite track in Europe is the Melzo, Italy track where the 1st round of the ENS was held in 2014. That was my first European race and it has left a lasting impression. It was so much fun!
Q: What is your occupation ?
A: I am a technology and data consultant for a health company in the US.
Q: Are you planning a career in the RC business later on ?
A: I think it would be really fun to have a career in RC. However, right now, I am just focusing on learning as much as I can about the cars and setup.
Q: Who is your regular pitcrew ?
A: My dad is my main mechanic. He is the best. He always pushes me to drive better and I enjoy communicating with him about our racing strategy and about what the car needs for the setup. I am so thankful to have a great relationship with my dad and I appreciate all that he does for me.
Q: Does your family support your racing ?
A: Oh yes! My dad, brother, and sister are also RC racers. RC is definitely a family hobby for us and we support each other 100%. J
Q: Do you have a favourite race car driver ( rc car or full scale) you admire most ?
A; My favorite race car driver is Michael Schumacher from F1. I grew up watching him race his V12 Ferrari on TV. I had a Michael Schumacher Mini-Z RC car that I raced around our kitchen!
Q: When will be your 1st race with Serpent ?
A: My first race with Serpent will be the 1/10 Worlds in Italy. It will be a great debut and I am excited to work with the Serpent team there! J
