Race report Merlin Depta (14/06/2018)

Back home after ENS Rd.2 I can say that I’m gaining confidence about my driving again. After a struggle from end of last year till the very first races in 2018 it seems as if I’m back on pace.

This definitely shows our great team work in 8th scale with Dominic, Michael, Mark and Anthony who are always on point with their suggestions and know-how. In contemporary times where at least 50% of the A-main consists of professional racers who do this as their >>main job<< our orange squad shows off that our great team work can compensate this disadvantage very well.

I arrived Thursday and found myself in the free practice sessions in P7 although the starter field was super close. The smallest mistake in your three consecutive laps would cost you many places. Over the whole weekend I stayed within the Top10 and found myself in P9 after qualification. As always, when you make it to the A-main nobody can take this from you anymore!

In the A-main I already worked my way to P4 when I suffered an engine flameout after refueling. I pushed very hard to make it to the front again when I ran out of fuel and flamed out for a second time. In 11th position I came home in this final. For sure not my best appearance in a 45min final especially in Ettlingen.

A big shoutout goes to Mark Holthuis for the help on this race. As well as my pit crew Marco, Timo and Dominic who come with me when I’m on the track without a mechanic. Not to forget our great team, and all other friends I love to hang out everytime.
