When choosing an engine to power your Impulse or any 1:10th scale touring car, consider the impressive features that the all new NovaMega SX12 contains. Features that when combined add up to this ultra competitive package that will see you ‘top of the pack’ come race day.
Crankcase
The engine crankcase and heat sink head has been forged from high-grade aluminium and is extremely strong and highly durable. The crankcase features extra cooling ribs, enhancing the cooling characteristics, lowering the risk of overheating.
Cylinder head set
The new two-piece cylinder head set features a separate combustion “chamber” and a finned cooling head. The combustion chamber is made of an alloy similar to that of the cylinder sleeve, having the same characteristics to improve the construction.
The cylinder head is made of the finest quality alloy and is precision manufactured to ensure that the seal for this .12 engine is kept even under extreme temperature ranges. This coupled with the precision sealed glow plug ensures that consistent compression is maintained.
Crankshaft
Presenting the large through-flow precision crankshaft. The large bore intake through the crankshaft allows a continuous flow of the vaporized fuel/air mixture into the crankcase/cylinder. This design is optimized to ensure the best low rev torque and acceleration in combination with very high top revs for unbeatable top speeds.
Carburetor
The SX 12 comes standard with a fully adjustable aluminium carburetor. Compare this with other engines in the touring car category that only come standard with a plastic carburetor. Created using high-grade aluminium it has all the features you would expect such as light weight, strength and good cooling characteristics.
Piston/Cylinder
CNC machined from high-grade aluminium this assembly is lightweight yet durable. The cylinder uses true ABC construction (aluminium piston, brass sleeve with chrome plating) for ultra–long usage with little or no visible wear. Bear in mind that ABC piston/sleeves take longer to break in but the benefits of longer life with better piston/sleeve fit and the extra care and effort becomes worth it.
Sleeve
This 4 port high-density hard-chromed sleeve, offers incredible durability coupled with highly effective porting ensure that maximum revs are achieved.
Backplate
The crankcase backplate is made from the ultra lightweight aluminium. Trouble free precision part.
