Serpent Cobra-T Truggy, gaspowered 1/8 scale 4wd high end competiton version. Kit version. 4wd gaspowered version, based on the sucessfull Cobra buggy. The ultimate competition racing truggy, for high end competition use. Designed by Serpent designer/racer Billy Easton, USA. Body included ( clear, unpainted ) tyres and wheels not included.
Very narrow 3mm 7075T6 aluminium chassis, with lots of machining on the upper face to make it lighter in strategic locations and to control flex. Kick-up front for proper landings. Angled side to increase cornering clearance, and secure and easy mounting side guards with 5 screws. Countersunk holes, chamfered sleeve for flywheel, pockets to position the suspension brackets. Grey anodized with Cobra Logo engraved.
Overall the Truggy is designed to keep the weight very central and near to the centerline as possible, to create great
Optimised central gear-diff with 50T super-hard spur-gear . Very small, compact design to reduce rotating mass to the max.
Spur Gear Guard
Helps prevent the spur gear from slinging debris all over the inside of the car and especially into the air filter. Works for rain and water puddles.
Piston Braking system
Provides more stopping power than you could have ever imagined before with a whole lot less servo power. Also is fully adjustable with 3 types of pistons
solid, O-ring type, spring type. In turn you can adjust your bias or braking feel to your liking in more ways than ever before.
Fiber Glass brake disks with oversized fronts. Brake plate springs will keep the plates spread open to insure not un-wanted dragging of the brake discs.
Durable but light and thin Serpent spring steel, laser engraved shafts.
Optimised gear-diff with 50T superhard spur-gears . Very small, compact design to reduce rotating mass to the max. Same version front and rear. Diff coupler in spring steel for 3 bearings
Light, strong and durable machined 5mm carbon fibre units with 5 positions for shockangle.
Sleek low profile air filter
Centralized air filter design to minimize cab width and height. Flexible rubber boot combined with strong nylon case to support the foam elements. Excellent dense foam airfilter elements to keep your engines clean inside
Helps to keep the dirt out and the lubrication in. Reduces wear.
Rear wing mount
The composite rear wing mount, allows to change the angle of the rear wing.
Two stage high down force wing, has two levels of angle, which also includes 2 fins. Helps improve down force and straight line capability
Composite one piece radiobox to securely mount servo’ s, battery and receiver. Easy access with screw on tops and nice switch-cover. Radio linkages run very straight and are easy to mount and set. Easy system to keep settings when removing the linkage assembly.
Anti-roll bar / anti-roll bar linkage with pivotball
The anti-roll bars front and rear are made of high quality special spring steel, and are captured on the diff-cased in ballbearing for perfect guidance and control.
Very long and durable composite lower wishbones, combined with upper spring-steel trackrods. 2 lower shock-mount positions. Downstops can be used as needed. Pivotball type anti-roll bar rods.
Innovative angled front steering assembly to reduce the angle of difference between the total caster and steering plane. Therefore you will have less bump steer and a truer steering Ackerman through the entire range of suspension.
Adjustable spring loaded servo-saver system with interchangeable Ackermann plates. With the design of the steering bell cranks when changing the Ackerman you will not need to adjust your steering tie rods. You simply will only need to adjust your end points on your radio.. Very easy to access and set-up.
The Inboard Bell crank keeps the lever and linkage inside the car. It will aid in the prevention of damage to the steering system. Zero scrub radiuses on steering knuckle, helps reduce the jacking effect created by your steering knuckle offset. It provides a more direct fell while keeping the cars chassis more level while turning.
The front roll center can be changed quickly by moving the steering knuckle shims to their appropriate locations.
Topped of with a strong 5mm carbon fibre top-plate.
Long and lightweight spring steel units with pressed in steel pins, laser-engraved. Same length front and rear.
Serpent spring steel threaded wheel-axles with lightweight grey anodised aluminium wheel-nuts ( flanged and serrated) to keep the massive truggy wheels/tyres on track.
Allows the chassis to flex which helps improve bump handling. Front and rear.
Nicely rounded front bumper, same as on the Cobra buggy, to protect the front anti-roll bar, suspension brackets, and flows inline with kick-up chassis front for safe landings.
Light, strong and durable machined 5mm carbon fibre units with 5 positions for shockangle.
The hinge-pins / hingepin balls are captured in precision machined, special shaped 7075 T6 aluminium, grey anodized with indicated type. They capture the nylon roll-center inserts.
The idea here was simple. Guarantees you will finish a race without loosing a pin or set screw. All parts, axles and drive train components have capture pins
Durable shaped composite side guards that follow the line of the chassis, and mount with 5 screws each side. Front and sides high enough to keep the dirt out.
16mm big bore shocks, with hard anodized precision threaded shock-bodies.
Shockboots in silicone rubber to keep the dirt out . Chromed shock-shafts for supersmooth shockaction .
The larger o rings provide less overall pressure and a better seal without dragging on the shock shaft.
In moist or wet dirt situations these mud guards reduce and dirt sticking to the rear drive shafts and shocks. Follow line of wishbone perfectly.
Alumnium version combined with coil spring-steel wire, to keep pipe well positioned and limits seal –breakage.
Allows you to mix and match shoe materials evenly in pairs. Also provides more surface area contact to insure the engagement. 4 carbon shaped shoes are standard ( alu ones optional).
Strong nylon 150cc fueltank with clunk-style filter.
Splash basin on tank top, which helps reduce fuel all over the chassis in the event of a messy pit stop. The basin collects the splashed fuel and guides it safely out the bottom of the chassis. The fuel tank seal is angled to self guide its way into the bore of the tank. At the same time will provide a seal on the chamfered and flat edges of the seal, providing consistent engine performance from one pit stop to the next.
Tank with swiveling nipple and floating clunk.
With the swiveling nipple you are able to adjust the angle at which you want you fuel line to travel. At the same time the floating clunk helps when you go upside down. The clunk by gravity will fall back into the fuel, utilizing the flexibility of the silicone fuel tubing.
Oversized Tank with adjustable volume. With the insertion of a simple screw and volume reducer you can have ROAR, IFMAR and any other organizations legal tank volume
Small nylon stoppers for the fuel-line are included with the kit to prevent fuel spilling.
Full set of high speed, special lubricated ball bearings.
Kit includes high quality silicone oils for the diffs and shocks and a container of grease.
Full color manual showing assembly steps , exploded views and reference guide. Set-up sheet included.
