The SRX8GT TQ is based on the SRX8GT that has proven his great potential on the World championships in Miami this Jan 2020. The SRX8GT TQ shares many high performance parts from the successful SRX8 platform. In addition to the details carried over from the SRX8 platform, we have introduced many new, design concepts to push the SRX8GT TQ well into the future as well as set its self apart from all competition.
The all new gearbox of the 989 is now also included in the SRX8GT TQ kit
The gearbox has less inertia than the one from the SRX8. This improves acceleration.
A much longer ramp for the roller avoiding locking of the second gear even with excessive wear on the shoes.
Despite being lighter it offers new features to improve reliability and consistently, the M4 setscrews for gap adjustment to help keeping the gap constant.
The 2 bearings in the second gear “bell” for better truth of rotation and balance
Easy access for adjustment from the outside.
The customers talked…we listened, this SRX8GT TQ is outfitted with a super easy access center 2 speed assembly. Not only is it easy to access, with simply removing 2 screws you can have the entire 2 speed out of the car and ready for adjustment/maintenance faster than you can make it to the concession stand for a beverage.
Aside from the easy access 2 speed, you can also get the maximum performance from your braking mechanism, due to an absolute easy to adjust single 3mm turnbuckle. No more uneven wearing brake pads or overloading one, get it right the first time with ease. With class leading technology like this, you will love working on your new GT.
This radio box design allowed us to have a lot of new advancements for this car, which included, as seen above a new updated center diff assembly and super easy to adjust braking mechanism. The flush mounted transponder and carbon fiber decals, set this thing apart from anything you have seen before.
The box fits a typical life or lipo 2000 or 2300 stick receiver pack. You can use either the small transponder adapter and or you can use the older larger size transponders with no problems. The receiver opening is spacious so no need to worry about room for your wires, or whether your receiver is new or older style.
The front and rear suspension arms, both feature arm plates that can be added, removed or swapped out for Carbon fiber. This feature can be used for a host of reasons, which can include looks and or performance. Depending on your grip level and track surface, you can adjust the stiffness of the SRX8GT’s arms.
Generally stiffer arms have a more linear feel but can reduce grip. This happens by forcing the shock to do more work.
A softer arm can increase grip by reducing the shocks importance, but can also give the car a less direct feeling. All of these adjustments can have a huge impact on your lap time and results.
Carried over from our successful SRX8 is the C-hub front end and long rear arm. The rear arm offers 2 length arms, short and long. Aside from the arm length, we have gone another step further and refined the suspension geometry for maximum cornering. Through countless hours of testing, the new arm risers both on the front and rear compliment this GT to a whole new level of performance. If that is not enough you can outfit the top and bottom of the arms with nylon or carbon arm stiffeners to control the flex. The shock towers have all been optimized to give you the proper up and down travel for the most demanding Racing circuits out there.
The Front steering spindle, made from 7075-T6 is black anodized with silver machined edges. This part is a carryover part from the SRX8. It also includes a rubber CVD boot to keep the driveshaft greased, to minimize wear. The steering spindle also accepts 5 different Ackermann plates. 0,1,2,3,4. Generally 0 is the easiest steering while 4 is more aggressive. You can fine tune your GT’s steering to fit your driving needs. All plates can be easily identified by the notch marks in the side of the plate.
The kit includes a tried and true 150cc fuel tank. The tank also includes a plug in case you need to adjust the capacity plus or minus a few cc. The tank has clip on clamps to help keep your fuel line in check as well as an overflow/splash shield around the lid of the tank. The tank floats on two specially design posts to flex just enough but also provide the proper support. The tank then has 2 rubber grommets to absorb vibration from the engine to reduce air bubbles in the tank to further improve the performance of your fuel system.
The front Caster blocks have been tested rigorously. We settled on 10 degrees, as it seemed to produce the best lap times. Aside from the angle, they are fully machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and also have nice machined silver edges. They also have setscrews that hold all pins into position, ensuring you will finish every single race you start. They also have steering stop screws that can be used to limit the steering throw to the absolute perfect of angles.
16mm threaded shocks with o ring seals. Carried over from our previous GT, these foolproof shocks have never let us down. They have extremely tough 4mm shock shafts and aluminum shock caps. The threaded bodies make it super easy to get the ride height or tweak settings you might be looking for.
A new addition to the SRX8GT is the Rear Diffuser. Testing showed amazing results with this part. More stability, ease of driving, better air flow in and out of the body and faster lap times.
Finally, we get to the front bumper. We supply an oversized large foam bumper in the kit. The bumper is firmly mounted between the upper and lower bumper. This solid mounting allows you to take more direct impact and ensure your car will be properly protected. The bumper can be trimmed to fit most if not all bodies currently in the market.
The SRX8GT TQ chassis comes equipped with holes pre drilled into the chassis for optional weights. At Serpent we understand the need for being able to adjust the weight distribution of your racing machine. This GT will be no exception as you can add a 25-gram weight to the front and/or rear. The weights will be sold separately but the chassis is ready to accept them.
With most all of our cars, and if your into seriously devilish looks, you can also find, optional black with machine edged aluminum transmission braces. They can be bought for the rear and also the front. They are serious head turners if your into putting some bling into your race program.
Also all new on the SRX8GT TQ are the aluminium uprights with carbon brackets to have all possible rollcenter positions for each condition you could need.
Also included in the SRX8GT TQ is the all new Adjustable GT clutch set, this was used for the first time at the Worlds and was proven to be the best available clutch.
The kit will have the steel clutch bell with the black shoe, but also available is a optional aluminum coated clutch bell and also a yellow clutch shoe.
Also included in the SRX8GT TQ kit are the new HTD diffs, these where also used by the team at the Worlds. One of those must haves are high volume large internal gear diffs. We manned up here, and went back to the drawing board and completely re-tooled our differential approach. The internal gears are a staggering Mod 1.25 which puts them at the largest in the market place.
With a maximum engagement surface on the tooth for earth shattering oil shearing, coupled with larger volume housing, these differentials reduce any fading or loss of performance. The internal ratio is industry 10/20. Make no excuses now boys, these babies will deliver the performance when you need it most.
Then it comes to GT racing, chassis width and corner clearance is huge, they control the lean and body roll in all directions. In addition to that, the roll and lean angles ultimately control the maximum cornering force. We kept the chassis the narrowest in nature that was possible, while increasing the corner clearance. However, we took it another step further. We pioneered the front of the chassis to adhere to the ROAR and IFMAR rules of a minimum kick-up angle, while increases clearance, for curbs, uneven track and under heavy braking. This also allows for a nice mounting surface and easy to find body posts as they will be facing vertical.
A carry over from our Nitro on road heritage, the GT program was upgraded with fully aluminum bulkheads, suspension brackets and center 2 speed mounts all included in the kit. These 7075-T6, components are all black anodized with Silver shiny edges. The looks are 2nd to none.
As a company we are fully invested in the GT class, and to take this category to the next level, we understood the need to have the suspension brackets vertically adjustable, so you can fine tune your GT to any condition.
These suspension brackets are made from 7075-T6 aluminum alloy. We have also added new RC shims to adjust the roll center at 1 and 2 mm off the chassis plate. This again further allows you to fine tune your kick angle, anti-squat and Roll center height.
As mentioned above there are some new adjustments, but some old ones as well. The 7075-T6 brackets also allow you to fully adjust the front kick-up 0,0.5,1,1.5 and 2 degree increments.
The rear anti-squat is no different as you can adjust that from 1,1.5,2,2.5,3 degrees, and the Toe-in adjustment can be made, 2,2.5,2.75,3,3.25,3.5 and 4 degrees using the inserts provided in the kit.
The next few items are sure to blow away the competition and to further establish the Serpent brand as an innovator. The SRX8GT TQ will be the first to come with not only 4 adjustable diff positions, but it will also come with easy access diffs. The 4 adjustment positions will allow the racer to fine to his model race car from the lowest grip, all the way to the highest grip conditions.
Both the front and rear bulkheads share the same Diff inserts, and pinion holders, to minimize extra parts and to maximize your racing fun. The diffs both front and rear can be removed and replaced in a matter of seconds. This gives you no reason not to freshen up, fine tune or rebuild your differential.
A new addition to the SRX8GT TQ is a flat steering system. Since minimal kick-up angles are used there was no need to have the angled steering system seen on our Off-road cars. We took the successful steering system from our SRX8 and SRX8e and created a version specifically for our GT car. Not only did it allow us to continue to use our existing Ackerman plates, but it also allowed us to lower the CG of the bulkheads and further enhance this cars ability to corner with less body roll. Keeping the most consistent Ackermann curves helps to ensure you are getting exactly what you expect with no surprises, when you approach a turn, travel through and then exit. The end outcome is more efficient cornering with less tire wear.
At the rear of the Asphalt slaying machine we took some pride in trying to have as symmetrical flex possible. In testing it was shown to have a positive effect on lap times as well as handling left and right into a corner. This SRX8GT TQ has two short braces symmetrically mounted just behind the engine.
Being involved with the Gt category from almost the beginning, Serpent has understood the direction and path necessary to produce a race winning car. With the S811-GT being our Designer Billy Easton’s first GT, mating his knowledge of design with team drivers Joaquin Desoto and his son, as well as countless other team members, was a match made in heaven. Working tirelessly on new concepts, suspension geometry, product assembly and durability, our team was able to create an absolute monster of a product. The new SRX8GT TQ has innovations at virtually every corner, while being one of the easiest cars we have ever produced to work on. Here at Serpent we are extremely proud of the SRX8GT TQ and have taken great pride in the design, from top to bottom. We didn’t just want to make a new car, we wanted to make a new car that simply changed the game. If you’re looking for sheer performance and quality in one product, look no further the SRX8GT TQ is the one for you, this product is simply rivaled by no-one.
