Due to the low tolerance required between the Spur gears and the 2nd gear carrier separating the two to change your ratio or replace the gear makes for a difficult operation. This is where this handy composite tool comes in. It is inserted into the corresponding holes on the rear face of the spur gear and when pressed, force the carrier away from the gear. Simple!
