The 6th and last round of the Belgian championship was also held at the track of Charleroi, the original idea was to have this race at the track of Bierset but sadly enough the track had to close its gates for an airport expansion.
Friday evening we arrived there, rain was falling out of the skies. Think the gods don’t like me or so, 6 Belgian championships this year => 6 times rain on Sunday or Saturday … Great!
Saturday when the track was finally dry, qualifications had to be run. So I nearly had no practice time.
First qualifying suddenly my personal transponder didn’t work anymore … As...

The fourth round of the Venezuelan 1:10 200mm Nationals took place over the weekend and it was Serpent driver Gianni Giorgio who claimed maximum points. Driving his Max Power engined 720, Giorgio was on top form in qualifying breaking the track record with a time of 17.048 and also set a new record for most laps completed over 5 minutes - a run that would secure him the TQ honours.

The 8th round of the British 1/10th scale 200mm Nationals were held recently at the Cotswold track where experience and youth came head to head for title honours. In the end it was youth that took the upper hand as 14-year-old Serpent Driver Development member Kyle Branson took the win and the championship title from Serpent factory driver Mark Green.

Team Unico Modellsport enjoyed an excellent performance last weekend at the fifth round of the National Championship at the Hungaroring circuit as their drivers won all three categories wrapping up both 1:10 titles in the process.

DJ Apolaro reports on the opening round of the Florida State Series which kicked off at the Homestead track over the weekend and saw Serpent claim the silverware in both 1:10 Sedan and 1:8.

The final round of the Luxembourg Championship took place recently at the Howald track where Rischard Dirk claimed the title in the best way possible with race victory at the controls of his Serpent 960. Dirk sent us the following summary of the race that crowned him the 2008 1:8 Champion -

The fifth round of the 1:8 Dutch Nationals was held in Gouda, a very tight and small track here in The Netherlands. The weather on Saturday was a bit disappointing. Because of the rain practice was minimized from 15:30 till 17:30 due to a wet track. However it was for everyone the same. I was really surprised how well my car was going. I used the setup of the last national in Heemstede and didn’t have to change 1 thing! The Novarossi 359 Plus 2 engine with the 3007 pipe was also working beautifully on this shot track. After a 3 month break the Cyprus based Modelsport team returned to racing in style with team driver Andreas Charalambous taking his Max powered Serpent 960 to victory at Daytona track.
