The 2008 1:8 Onroad British National Championships kicked off over the Easter weekend at the very fast Brookland Circuit in Kent where defending champions Team Serpent took top honours in the cold conditions.
Saturday's practice saw drivers faced with a mixture of rain, hail and sunshine. On race day most drivers had the opportunity to test on a dry track but they had to contend with very cold air temperatures of only 2C. An example of how cold it was is that just before the start of Heat 1 it started to snow!

Serpent ace offroad driver Joern Neumann driving the "work-in-progress" Serpent prototype 1:8 buggy made the A-Final at the prestigious Neo 08 race over the weekend. The Indoor track at Harper Adams attracted over 200 drivers from around the world and was a whose who of world class buggy racers.

The opening round of the Greek National Championship for 1:10 200mm took place over the weekend at the FRT circuit where Team Serpent took both the TQ and race victory for the perfect defence of their 2007 title.

The Warm Up for the 1:10 200mm World Championships took place over the weekend at the Lisbon track in Portugal and together with the rest of the Serpent team we where there to gather vital set-up information ahead of the big event. Unfortunately the event was affected by rain which meant grip levels were very bad and we had limited track time.

Dear Racers,
The next stop on our racing tour was Omaha, Nebraska. The site was Hobby Town, Hobby Plex. The race you ask was to be the US ROAR Carpet Nationals. As you arrive at the location the building itself was massive. The hobby shop was very complete from trains & planes to cars. They simply had everything a hobbyist would ever want.

The Irish on-road nitro racing season got underway on Sunday with Team Serpent Ireland enjoying a positive start to their 2008 campaign as Keith Dempsey TQ'd his 720 '08 and was joined on the podium by fellow Serpent driver Colm Gaffney.

RB Team driver Jacky Mouton made the perfect start to the opening round of the French National Championships over the weekend securing the TQ position with his Serpent 720 '08.

The Greek National Championship got underway last weekend and it was current champion John Sotiropoulos that dominated the event at the FRT track with his new Serpent 960 '08.
With the Team Microracing shipment of new '08 kits arriving the week of the race it was a busy one for the team and in particular for their new drivers. To ensure that all drivers had a good set-up and understanding of the new chassis for the season opener Team Microracing organised a workshop at their HQ on the Friday evening which proved very successful.

Serpent factory team driver Paolo Morganti is no stranger to the Winternats having being champion in 1:10 Sedan for the past two years.
Once again the Venezualan was a leading contender for this year's title TQ'ing his 720 08 for the 2008 edition of the big Florida race but in the end the simpliest of items cost him the hat trick of titles.
Here is Paolo's own personal account of the event -
