
The 2008 Spanish National Championship got underway over the weekend at the new Cadiz track situated in the southeast of Spain and reigning champion Oscar Cabezas was once again the pace setter but in the final the young star was out of luck.

Team Serpent Cyprus concluded another almost perfect weekend in Cyprus during Round 2 of the Cyprus Nitro Challenge as the 'Dream Team' completed a 1-2 Finish in the A-final and 1-2-3 in the B-final.

Team Serpent USA driver Jared Scott had an incident packed Winternats. Wrong airport, not enough fuel, too much rain and finally brain failure meant his promise didn't materialise. Jared sent us this account of his week at the '08 Winternats -

The Florida Winernats, often referred to as the unofficial World Championships, saw the 2008 international Nitro season kick off last weekend and one of the leading entries for Team Serpent was DJ Apolaro who was racing his 720 '08 in the 1:10 Touring Class.

Serpent's Billy Easton travelled to the world famous Snowbirds race recently in Florida where he led Serpent's EP team of drivers at the annual event. Responsible for the development of Serpent's new range of electric competition cars Billy sent this report from the big race -

Serpent's off road development driver Jörn Neumann was in action again over the weekend with his 1:8 Serpent Prototype buggy this time racing at the Kyosho International Indoor in Ostrava in the Czech Republic.
It was another strong showing for the pairing with the young German taking his second Nitro event TQ of the month which he then covert into an easy victory. Jörn sent us this report -

Young German racer Tobias Hepp has been announced as the latest emerging young talent to be signed up to the Serpent Driver Development program which aims to assist up and coming racers in their quest to reach the highest levels of the sport.
14-year-old Tobias has been racing for 5 years and has made a big impression in his home country. Winning his first major rc championship title in 2004 he has for the past two seasons been the German 1:8 National Junior Champion.

The Hong Kong Serpent Nitro Tour took place last weekend at the ACO Racing Track in New Territories, Hong Kong. Run by World Model Co. the event was once again a huge success attracting 125 entries.
In the 1:10 200mm it was Japanese ace Yuua Sahashi who TQ'd the event but in the final he would retire at the 30-minute mark. This left Chui Kai Leung who qualified fifth for the final to take the win from Chiu Samuel with Hyunho Ahn completing the podium.
In 1:8 Tadahiko Sahashi took pole for the event from his brother Yuua but once again back luck was to hit the pole sitter as Tadahiko retired...

Fresh from their success in the opening 1:10 race of 2008, the Modelsport team was at their winning ways in the first 1:8 race of the season over the weekend in Cyprus.
Driving his Max powered Serpent 960, it was defending Champion Nicholas Zachariades that set the pace in Round 1 of the Cyprus Nitro Challenge. Running Xceed tyres, the Modelsport team driver TQ'd the event and went on to lead home Serpent debutant Andreas Charalambous and after a close race all the signs are that the pair will be the main championship protagonists for the 2008 Drivers title.

The biggest indoor EP Buggy race of the year took place in Austria on January 5 & 6 and it was Serpent's Jörn Neumann who took the win with his new Serpent 1:10 4WD EP buggy.
Running at the Winterchamps in Hohenems, Jörn used his Serpent Prototype 4WD to great effect winning the first two legs of the final to secure the overall victory over Hupo Hönigl (Tamiya) and 3rd placed Peter Pinisch (Associated).
