One of the reasons we (okay… I) got into this great sport is that we are fascinated and enamoured with high-performance, technological products. As RC cars have continued to evolve into their present-day state of “engineering marvels,” so too have all the supporting products created by innovative companies.
Case in point…
VXR Racing is one of the leaders in RC-focused Lithium Polymer (LiPo) technology, offering leading-edge products to the RC industry. Much to my delight, and surely for other 1/8 on-road nitro car racers around the world, their latest product is a brand-new LiPo receiver pack...

May 13th/14th was time for Coimbra city to receive the 2nd round of the Portuguese 1/10 200mm national championship. A sunny race during all weekend, only troubled by cotton from the trees around the track, floating in the air. Painting masks were common in the pit area.
Serpent team driver, Filipe Costa got the pole position in one of the best results ever made by all drivers. 49 drivers separated by a "small" gap of 2 laps, about 42 seconds. João Malveiro, Cláudio Lopes and João Inácio made it directly to the semi-finals, while Ricardo Nogueira with such a bad luck places his Serpent in 44th...

Current 1/10th 200mm Spanish National Champion Diego Palacios gave his title defence a major boost when he took victory in Round 2 of the 2006 Championship which was held at the Parla track in Madrid recently.
Driving his 710, Diego qualified P1 as the only driver on 17 laps. In the race he took full advantage of pole to establish an early lead however an engine flame out saw him drop to 3rd. Regaining his focus, he set about catching the leaders who he in turn got passed to take victory by a margin of 10 seconds.
A great win for Diego and Serpent in a race which also saw two other...

The youngest member of the 'Serpent Driver Development' program, Kyle Branson, put in a superb performance over the weekend to finish on the podium in the second round of the British 1/10th Championships at Brookland.
Driving his Mega powered Serpent 710, the reigning European 1/10th Junior Champion qualified 5th fastest of the 75 strong entry to secure a place in the A Final.
A good start in the final saw the 12-year-old quickly move into fourth. Some excellent driving then saw him climb his way up 2nd but a spin saw him passed for the position. A 20-lap battle with fellow Serpent driver...

The Spanish 1/8th National Championship travelled to Zaragoza last weekend and once again 'Serpent Driver Development' member Oscar Cabezas, winner of the opening round 1, proved himself to be a leading candidate for the 2006 title.
Suffering from what he originally thought to be radio interference on the main straight which caused the car to intermittently flick right, Oscar lost all of Friday and Saturday morning's practice changing radio gear. It later transpired that the problem was being caused by a drive shaft problem.
Having little no time to fine tune the setting of his 960 before...
