15 year old Ian Campbell has been making a big impression in the UK

Serpent 960 driver Ian Campbell has won the 2006 BRCA 1:8 IC Circuit Junior National Championships.  The Irish driver secured the title by taking his fourth maximum points in the latest round of the championship held at Mendip over the weekend.



15-year-old Campbell, who travels to each race with his dad Bill from their home in County Meath, Ireland, has been making a big impression in the British 1:8 National Championship this year and his impressive results include taking TQ at the seventh round at Halifax.

SERPENT 720 TAKES 1-2 AT COUPE DE FRANCE (19/09/2006)

Serpent's new 720 took a impressive 1-2 at the prestigious Coupe
de France event held at Bourg en Bresse over the weekend.



Starting from fifth on the grid Team driver Jacky Mouton lead home
fellow 720 driver Arnaud Chaussard by less than half a second to
add the title to the growing list of achievements for the new Rene
Cornella designed 200mm Touring car.

AUSTRIAN SERIES CHAMPIONS CROWNED (19/09/2006)

The final round of the Austrian Serpent Series took place in Lavanttal over the weekend where three new champions were crowned.

In the 1:8 Series Peter Hutter won the final round ahead of Series debutant Christian Perner but finishing sixth was enough for Franz Schinko to claim the title.

Nejc Marcic claimed victory in the 1:10 200mm class ahead of Ladislav Tovarek. The only driver to claim a double win in this year's Austrian Series, the result secured Marcic the title ahead of Tovarek.

In the 235mm class it was Serpent Series organiser Gerhard Binder (aka Bernie) who took the win ahead...

Gergely Cskeo was in record breaking form with the new 720 at Hungary's main circuit Pecs

720 BREAKS ALL RECORDS IN HUNGARY (19/09/2006)

Serpent's new 720 established three new records in Hungary over the weekend on its way to taking victory in the final round of the Hungarian National Championships.



Racing at the Pecs circuit, driver Gergely Cskeo set a new 1:10 lap record, qualifying record and race record for the 30 minute final.  Cskeo was joined by three more 720s in the final.



There was further success for Serpent at the National Championship finals with the Dutch manufacturer's cars also taking victory in the 1:8 and 1:10 235mm finals.

VAN ECHELPOEL IS BELGIAN SERIES CHAMPION (19/09/2006)

Bart Van Echelpoel is the 2006 Belgium 1:10 235mm Serpent Series Champion. The Wijnegem driver claimed the title with his fourth straight win in the penultimate round of the Series at Rumst over the weekend.


Securing pole for the main final Van Echelpoel didn't have it all his own way in the 30 minute final. Willy Wuyts and Luc Steylaerts both put pressure on the Series' only race winner with the trio swaping the lead several times.


Despite the best efforts of Wuyts and Steylaerts, Van Echelpoel eventually came out on top once again to win both the race and the 2006 Belgian Serpent Series...

One more morning getting up early and hoping for good weather at this IFMAR World Championship 1:10 scale......and guess what...until now our prayers of yesterday evening helped. It rained during the night but right at the moment it is dry and the track is drying up.


So let's hope that it stays like that and there are no more clouds coming (at least no ones with rain).

Lower finals in the rain

All racers in the lower finals unluckily got victim of the unpredictable weather conditions here in Brisbane at the moment. So the morning started with short showers and right now the rain got even heavier. This means that the first finals are being run in the rain. This is a very tough game as all racers of you know… you need a lot of luck and experience in just having the right tires at the right moment. Anyway let’s have a look on what to expect today and hope the weather will not lay us down later in the afternoon.

Racing is all underway and everybody is busy preparing his/her car and tires for the last day of qualification at this IFMAR World Championship in Brisbane.


Heat 15-9 have already finished their 5th round of qualification and we have seen an impressive performance of Kyosho driver Chris Tosolini racing 35 laps in 10:17.14 minutes. Next to him also Takaaki Shimo was able to improve his time with driving 34 laps in 10:03.26 minutes. Francesco Tironi definitely got a boost from his birthday party yesterday. SERPENT SERIES' REACH CRITICAL STAGES (13/09/2006)

While most r/c racers focus their attentions on the IFMAR 1:10 200mm World Championship in Australia this weekend, elsewhere, competitors will be focusing on their respective Serpent Series.




Poland, Slovenia and Austria all host the final rounds of their Serpent Series this weekend while Hungary and Belgium run their penultimate rounds.
