HOME ADVANTAGE FOR PORTUGAL IN NATIONS CUP FREE TRAINING (13/10/2006)

Team Portugal put their local knowledge to good use today (Friday) in free training for the 2nd Serpent Nations Cup being hosted by the Monsanto track in Lisbon.

Joao Malveiro topped the time sheets and was the only driver to break below the 18 seconds with a lap time of 17.909.

Portugal's neighbour Spain was the closest challenger with newly crowned Spanish Champion Oscar Cabezas recording a time of 18.055.

Team Netherlands was next up with Rob Kuijpers heading the Dutch challenge with a time of 18.388 followed closely by Team Poland just 0.018 behind thanks to young talent Norbert Omelanczuk.

VAN ECHELPOEL TAKES BELGIAN SERPENT SERIES TITLE (11/10/2006)

Bart Van Echelpoel is the 2006 Belgian 1/10 235mm Serpent Series Champion. The Wijnegem driver secured the title in fine style by winning the final round of the Series at the beatiful new Roeselare circuit.


Having won all of the previous 4 rounds of the Series, Van Echelpoel once again took the TQ position ahead of Luc Steylaerts.


In the final the pole sitter came under pressure from both Steylaerts and Willy Wuyts however both were to hit problems leaving Van Echelpoel to take the win and finish the season with a perfect score.

Oscar on the top step of the podium

CABEZAS WINS EFRA GP AND SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP (11/10/2006)

'Serpent Driver Development' team member Oscar Cabezas took victory in the EFRA Spanish GP at Elche over the weekend and with it the Spanish 1:8 National Championship title.




Qualifying on the front row of the grid, the 19-year-old got away from the line perfectly getting the jump on pole sitter Stefano Solaroli.  Once in front Cabezas took control of the race and at the 15 minute stage had a commanding 1 lap advantage over second.




Maintaining his lead Cabezas took his Mega MF powered Serpent 960 to a superb victory and his second EFRA Spanish GP win.

New BRCA Champion Richard Hicklin with his girlfriend and his dad

SERPENT/MEGA CROWNED BRITISH 1:8 CHAMPIONS (10/10/2006)

Serpent's 960 is the 2006 British BRCA 1:8 National Champion. Elite RC team driver Richard Hicklin secured the title with a podium finish in the final round of the championship at Tibshelf over the weekend.


Finishing the race behind Serpent team driver and pole starter Mark Green, second was enough for Hicklin to secure the title from his Elite RC team mate Tim Wood for the perfect finish to a superb season for Serpent in the UK. At the pevious round, Ian Campbell secured the BRCA 1:8 Junior title with his Serpent 960.

Nat's in Monteux (08/10/2006)

The last week I was in Monteux for the last nat's.

After the hits I was 6 so I was first in semi final. In semi final I won and in final I finished third. The second place was possible because at the beginning of the final I have had a problem with an another driver.

I' m very happy of the car seven twenty.
The luck comes back it's good for the next year.

Kyle's 720 in action at Cotswolds

BRANSON ENDS NATIONAL CAMPAIGN WITH ANOTHER 'A FINAL' PERFORMANCE (03/10/2006)

'Serpent Driver Development' racer Kyle Branson brought his 2006 1:10 BRCA National Championship to a successful close by once again making the A final.




Held at Cotswolds, the final round attracted 63 entries and saw Branson, fresh from the Worlds in Australia, help secure an all Serpent 720 front row for the top final.  Setting the second fastest time, the European Junior Champion just missed out on the TQ to the similar car of Chris Slater.

CABEZAS TO LEAD TEAM SPAIN CHALLENGE IN LISBON (03/10/2006)

'Serpent Driver Development' team member Oscar Cabezas is to lead Team Spain at the 2nd edition of Serpent Nations Cup in Portugal (October 13-15). It was at this event last year in Spain that the promising youngster came to the attention of Serpent's technical director Michael Salven leading him to being selected for the SDD program.




Cabezas, a member of the Spanish team that finished runner to Team Great Britain after a titanic battle last year in Valencia, will be joined on the 4 car team by Francisco Lara, Alberto Fernandez and Javier Rodriguez Fernandez.

Belgian 1:8 Champions - D'hondt (Vice-Champion) and Cuypers (Champion)

960 CROWNED BELGIAN CHAMPION (03/10/2006)

Steven Cuypers is the 2006 Belgian National 1:8 Champion.  Driving his Mega powered 960 Cuypers won the title from fellow Serpent racer Robin D'hondt.




The final round of the championship took place in Roeselare over the weekend where D'hondt was in top form.




Qualifying saw the talented youngster TQ ahead of Cuypers to make it an all Serpent front row for the top final.  Making the most of their Mega MF engined 960s, the pair converted their grid position into a 1, 2 result that in turn also secured a Championship one, two.

Jimmy Qian with his gold medal at the 13th Games of Shanghai

720 WINS GOLD AT 13th GAMES OF SHANGHAI (28/09/2006)

Team Serpent driver Jimmy Qian took his 720 to victory and with it claimed the gold medal in the R/C Race of the 13th Games of Shanghai held in China recently (16/17th September).



World Model Team driver Qian dominated the event from the start securing the TQ position which he made good use of to go on a win the event.



It was also gold for Serpent in the 1:8th event with Tommy Dai taking his Mega ZX21 powered 950R to victory.
