
Last weekend the second round of the Portuguese Cup for 1/10-200 took place at the Monsanto track in Lisbon, host circuit for the 2006 Serpent Nations Cup. The race was attended by 42 drivers with Serpent cars being the most popular choice of drivers - 14 X Serpent, 10 X Kyosho, 7 X Mugen, 7 X G4, 2 X Associated, 1 X Yokomo and 1 X HoBao.
After the qualifying heats 12 drivers where on same lap, 15 laps, and the promise of a very challenging race.

Arnaud Chaussard took 1st place in the French Nats in Grenoble with his fine-tuned Serpent 710, one lap ahead of the field.
Michal Derdrian Serpent 710 / Mega ZX-12 Race took an excellent 4th place only 6 secs behind 3rd place, and still in the same lap.

Over the winter months, we have been testing various Super GT bodyshells. At the first National 235mm race meeting held at Mendip last week over half of the drivers were using the Super GT shells.

The 2006 Austrian Serpent Series kicked off in style over the weekend at Kirchberg with 36 drivers from Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland and Romania taking part in the well organised event.
A truely international affair, victories went to Austrians Daniel Tomaschko in 1:10 200mm and Peter Grandinger in 1:8, the largest class, with Christian Faur taking top honours in 1:10 235mm.
Organised by Action Line, the Round 2 of the Series takes place in Brno in the Czech Republic on June 4.

The opening race of the six round Dutch Serpent Series took place over the weekend at the Baanbrekers circuit in southern Holland and it was Rik Veenma (NK Klasse) and Miquel Hereijgers (Nomac Klasse) who took top honours.
The regining Serpent Series Champion of the Nomac Klass, Rik made the perfect start to his NK graduation for 2006 to secure maximium points ahead of Jeroen Janken - runner up in the 2005 NK Series standings.
It was also a perfect start for Serpent Series newcomer Miquel Hereijgers who won the Nomac Klasse ahead of Joey Sorber and Sander de Graaf.

Dear racers
To start a season in Europe end of March is a little dangerous, even if it is the south of France. While it was freezing in Holland, we where very curious how the weather would be, the forecast was changing every day, so.......
Anyway, as I said, it was the south of France. It was the French EFRA GP on the track of Beaumont Monteux, which is located about 90 km south of Lyon.
The 2006 season started at the magnificent Modelsport Racing circuit next to Nuevo Campo sports center.
A perfect day for racing. Sunshine and with air temperatures up to 27. The circuit looked perfect regarding grip.
Team Modelsport still celebrates there fantastic result. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Place for Team Modelsport.

The newly introduced Belgian 235mm Serpent Series got underway over the weekend and it was Bart Van Echelpoel from Wijnegem who took victory.
Unfortunately the weather at the Houthalen track, venue for the opening race of the five round Series, was less than ideal and drivers were forced to sit out much of Saturday's practice due to the wet conditions.
Improving slightly for Sunday qualifying it was Mr. 235mm Willy Wuyts who secured pole position from Van Echelpoel and Luc Steylaerts self developed Serpent '845'.

'Serpent Driver Development' signing Oscar Cabezas got his 2006 championship campaign off to a perfect start over the weekend when he dominated the opening round of the Spanish 1:8th National Championship in Madrid.
Driving his Serpent 960 powered by Mega's new ZX21 DSII, the 19 year old secured pole position Sunday's final with a new lap record time.
Switching to another of Mega's new engines, the ZX21 MF, for the final the SDD racer stormed to a convincing victory taking fastest lap and finishing two laps ahead of his nearest rival.
