2006 Southern Clash (27/03/2006)

Once a year the Dunedin Radio Control Model Car Club host an On Road race meeting catering for electric and 1/10 scale gas powered cars. This year the organisers promised a bigger track enabling drivers to race their larger 1/10 2WD cars which is a popular class at our local track, Ruapuna model raceway.
Ten drivers from Christchurch made the 4 ˝ hour journey south to Dunedin to compete against the southerners for the 2006 Southern Clash. The track was constructed from rectangle section PVC tube laid on a very large car park.

GP France: Serpent drivers put 5 cars in the final (26/03/2006)

Mark Green takes 2nd place and Salven 4th place in the GP final.
Mark Green (S960/MegaZX) was at a blistering pace right from the start, but some carburation issues and a glowplug failure made him drop back a little in the 2nd part. Based on laptimes and overall speed he was certainly the fastest finalist.
Salvens (S960/MegaZX) car did not feel as easy as the perfect car he had in qualifying, which made it harder to to follow the pace in the 45 minute final. A tricky tire-change did not help either . In the end just a few seconds behind 3rd placed Volta and a lap on the winner.

Salven was able to set the pace in qualifing on the very technical track in Beaumont.
A big thanks to the organising club to stage the 1st 2006 EFRA GP. All racers seem very eager to start the season again and test the newly found idea's from wintertime.
Serpent gathered a good number of drivers to use this early race to share lots of info and work together on S960 set-up. Bestel, Cardot, Green, Cuypers, Geisendorf to name a few.
Also 2 young drivers of the SDT (Serpent Development Team) are present, Cabezas from Spain and Brixner from Germany. More about SDT soon.

The Serpent Nations Cup is an end of season team event in which Serpent drivers race for their country and the title of ‘Nations Cup’ Champions.
2006 is the second running of the event that was last year won by Great Britain following a titanic battle with host nation Team Spain.
